Le Rougarou: Hot new Southern restaurant in Denver you can't find on Google Maps

It’s only been in business since August 14th, but Le Rougarou is already cementing itself as THE new industry hot spot for excellent food and drinks. Founded by the owners of the popular bar Yacht Club, this restaurant is already generating serious buzz for all the right reasons.

Inspired by food from the American South, chef John David Wright has delivered an impressive starting menu with classics like boiled peanuts (I give you permission to drink up the lemon‑pepper sauce lingering at the bottom of the bowl) alongside items like a strawberry-flecked collard green salad, blackened Georgia trout, and a soon-to-be signature blue cheese tart everyone won’t stop talking about.

The atmosphere is delightfully off‑kilter, with a slightly gothic feel. E.g., a miniature altar to the legendary rougarou (werewolf) greets guests as they enter.

Online reservations are available, but you can also try your luck as a walk-in: the front half of the restaurant has a dedicated bar and a handful of cocktail table seating available on a first-come, first-served basis. They are open every day except Wed, 5pm-1am (one of the few late-night spots to eat in town).

LOCATION:
2844 Welton Street, Denver, Colorado 80205 (close to 29th Street. They are currently unlisted on Google Maps).
